How I turned a blog post into a passive income source + live launch

Mallory Musante | How I turned a blog post into a passive income source + live launch

As business owners, passive income is the holy grail of scaling. But honestly, it can be really tough to figure out how to create a passive income stream… or even come up with an idea for one!

That’s where your website analytics can actually help shed some light. (Yes, really!)

After digging into the website analytics for a client, I found that they had a blog post that accounted for over half of their monthly pageviews, consistently month-after-month. Pair that with the fact that they were also getting a large amount of traffic to their portfolio, I quickly summarized that they had other professionals in their industry Googling how to create a portfolio for themselves and looking at their blog post to create their own and their portfolio as an example.

While their core services didn’t help other professionals in their industry build their own businesses at the time, I saw an opportunity for them to serve these individuals using resources they already had in their business.

We created a free opt-in which was simply the questionnaire they already used for their own clients — No additional work needed to create this other than removing their branding.

This allowed them to start collecting emails from the individuals coming to their blog post because people had to sign-up for their email list to get the free questionnaire template.

Once people were on that email list, they were put into an automated email sequence I created to not only introduce their brand to those on the list but to also promote their new digital products — also derived from resources they already used in their own business. This included repurposing their strategy, proposals, and reports. We simply just removed their branding from these templates they created for their own business to create digital products for a passive income stream with very little effort.

Once they had a good amount of people on that particular email list, I also helped them leverage this funnel even further by creating a course to help other professionals in their industry launch and scale their own businesses.

Rather than this being fully passive income, this allowed my clients to launch the course live for a quick cash injection into their business.

This funnel created both a passive income stream and cash injections to propel their business forward in a brand new way they hadn’t previously considered.

So if you’re looking to add a passive income source to your business, start by looking into your analytics and considering what people ask you about often. This may help spark an idea for you to implement.
