How to leverage a press feature to create a bigger impact

So you’ve landed a pretty major press feature (hellll to the yes!) but now what?

While press exposes you to that particular publication’s audience which expands your brand recognition and reach, that’s not the only benefit of press and there are ways to leverage each press feature you get to make an even bigger impact for your brand.

You just have to get a little strategic.

Let’s talk about the basics:

ADD THE LOGO TO YOUR WEBSITE

So this is a bit of a given but just in case, you definitely want to add either a press or “as seen on” section to your website. This provides you with instant credibility when someone lands on your website. Boom.. continued impact for your brand!

SHARE ACROSS ALL SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS

Another given but blast that shit everywhereeeeee. On your business accounts, personal accounts, stories, feed posts, etc. Get creative if you want but make sure you’re blasting this out to your current audiences.

This could help pull anyone that’s on the fence about purchasing from you over the edge by giving you extra credibility with your existing audience.

SEND A NOTE TO YOUR EMAIL LIST

If you have an email list (and if you don’t, you might want to consider starting one!), let them know about this press feature too! We recently did this for a Forbes feature for one of my businesses and it sparked $2,000 in sales that day alone.

Now let’s talk about some more creative ways to leverage this feature:

IF YOU HAVE SPACE AND IT’S A MAJOR FEATURE, ADD A “AS SEEN IN…” TO YOUR INSTAGRAM BIO.

You’ve likely seen this here and there on other account but in their Instagram bio (or other social media bios) they include “As seen in XYZ publication”. Similar to adding your logo to your website, this gives the feature some staying power and provides instant credibility to anyone that lands on your account.

ADD A BADGE TO THE PRODUCT IMAGE OR A NOTE IN THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION SAYING “AS SEEN IN…”

If you’re a product based business and one of your products was features, add some sort of badge to the product image. That way when your customers are skimming your shop, they can quickly see that product was featured in YXZ publication.

You can also add a note saying “As seen in XYZ publication” into the product description.

Basically just share your excitement about the press feature with anyone and everyone you possibly can! This may seem like overkill or overly bragging but you need to assume that most people haven’t seen your announcement anywhere else and/or they didn’t just stumble upon the feature.

Your existing audience is going to be excited for you (because they’re already invested in your business and want to see you succeed!) and it’s going to impress anyone you haven’t yet connected with once you do. Leverage this press to solidify old connections and make new ones built on credibility and trust!
